Conference Recap 2024: Advancing Technologies in DNA, Forensics and Sexual Assault Kit Tracking

In early April, the forensic community turned its eyes towards Nashville, Tennessee, where InVita's 2024 Conference unfolded over two action-packed days. From April 2-4, this event served as a nexus for leading experts, passionate advocates, and dedicated professionals all focused on Advancing Technologies for DNA, Forensics and Sexual Assault Kit Tracking.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to all attendees who made the journey to Nashville to join us. Your energy, enthusiasm, and insightful exchanges, were the keystones of our conference's success! Welcoming and Opening Remarks

The conference opened on a high note with a warm welcome from Alex Muller, Executive Vice President & General Manager of InVita's DNA and Forensic Division. He highlighted the ample opportunities for learning, networking and collaboration that were available throughout the event, setting the tone for what was to come.
Keynote Address by Julie Weil

One of the highlights of the conference was the powerful keynote address given by Julie Weil, Director of the Not Just Me Foundation, international speaker, consultant, advocate, and sexual assault survivor. Julie's personal experience has fueled her passionate advocacy, leading to significant legislative triumphs at both the state and federal levels. Julie's discussion on the significance of Sexual Assault Kit tracking was both insightful and impactful, highlighting its crucial role in comprehensive rape kit reform. She continues to work towards a better future for sexual assault survivors.
New Felony Arrest law and Its Impact on DNA Database Labs

Another enriching session featured guest speaker Ryan Strand, a CODIS LIMS Specialist with the Texas Department of Public Safety, who presented on the implications of new felony arrest laws on offender databasing. During his session, Ryan discussed the tools and processes that have helped his team adapt their operations to this new legislation. This comprehensive overview provided STACS Database users with the necessary knowledge to adjust to these legislative changes effectively.
Interactive and Insightful Breakout Sessions
Attendees had the opportunity to dive deep into specialized content tracks tailored to pressing industry needs. Each session not only provided learning opportunities but also facilitated discussions on future enhancements of InVita's DNA and forensic sample management solutions.
